Le
Potager Mont-Rouge : known under this name since 1987, we, Robert
Beauregard and Marielle Farley, produce 5 varieties of fruits
and vegetables on a surface of 100 hectares.
Located in Rougemont, in the heart of "Montérégie",
the company benefits of a good climate and a ground convenient
to the culture of fruits and vegetables.
The production of squashes, strawberries, sweet corn, Italian
tomatoes and cabbages constitutes our specialty.
Our recent expansion and our technical innovations allow us to
meet the challenges of a market garden production offering excellent
products to competitive prices.

While respecting environment, we aim to produce first quality

Distinction:
In September 2002, Marielle was honored with the 2002 Farmer
of the Year Award, in the St-Hyacinthe region. This award
was given to her for her involvement in the company, in the community
as well as her active participation in different farmer's comities
that she is involve with.
And February 5th 2004, La Fédération des Producteurs
marécher (The Vegetable Producer's Federation) gave
us the Jean-Desjardins Award for our dynamism and for
our innovative way to bring the winter squash on the market.
Since 1988, we promote the winter squash, a culture that is still
no well known in Quebec. |

Squashes :
We produce every year a big variety of winter squashes on more
than 40 hectares. Part of our production is: Spaghetti, Pepper,
Butternut and Giraumont squashes. We also have a big variety
of squashes specially produce for Halloween (pumpkin and decorative). |

Strawberries :
Already picked strawberries are offered at the farm stand but
we also give the public the opportunity to come in our fields
to pick our delicious strawberries by them selves. |

Italian tomatoes :
Produced on about ten hectares, the public can find our tomatoes
at the Jean-Talon market in Montreal in the stand #14-15-16-17,
as well as on the export market under the brand mark Bella-Fara.
You can also come to the farm for U-pick and they are also available
at the farm stand. |

Cabbages :
We cultivate several varieties of cabbage like the red and Savoy
cabbage which grows in popularity. |

Sweet corn :
We also make the culture of sweet corn. Picked early in the morning,
we supply some food stands and grocery stores with fresh and
crisp sweet corn. |

Agronomic environment
Being member of an agronomic support club, we benefit from the
expertise of an agronomist to produce our fruits and our vegetables
according to standards and new agronomic techniques with the
respect for a lasting agriculture.
Control
The control of our fields is made by specialized research technicians.
Research consisting in identifying diseases and pests present
in our cultures, what allows us to use effectively and sensibly
pesticides at the most convenient moments.
Sprayer
The use of device precision, such as ramp sprayer calibrated
by computer, allows us a targeted and effective application of
pesticides. Debit fitting automatically according to the speed
of the tractor, dosages are rigorously respected.
Furthermore, we participate in projects of half-dose application
of product plus more ecological product.
Periods prescribed by Agriculture Canada for pesticides application
before harvest, are carefully observed to offer to our customer
healthy products.

do not cultivate plants genetically modified. |

Irrigation
We use an irrigation system by spraying or drop by drop to assure
a growth and a constant production in our fields, while saving
the water.
Mulch
The use of methods, as culture with mulch plastic or on mound,
constitute examples of our efforts to offer you in scoop products
of high quality to competitive prices.
Weeding
We eliminate the weed of our vegetable farming cultures by mechanical
hoeing or by manual hoeing... We use weed-killers the least possible
and when it turns out necessary, we apply them in strip and precisely.

We
put a special attention to the choice of our plants and seeds,
to give consumers the varieties and the quality that they deserve. |
